Cake is a delicious dessert that your dog has probably had their eyes at one time or another.
Straight to the point: Normally, sharing is not caring — too much sugar and other questionable ingredients!
If you can, take the time to whip one up yourself. Otherwise, dogs really should not partake in cake.

You can allow a small taste, but go overboard and lots of cake calories will eventually catch up with a furry friend.

Some Common Cake Ingredients
If you like to bake you know what goes into a typical cake creation.
Recipes usually call for flour, eggs, sugar, butter or oil and baking soda or powder.
With the exception of eggs, there is nothing really beneficial for a dog.
There is another factor that’s not to be overlooked:
Nuts are commonly added to cakes and this complicates matters.
Macadamia, for example, are downright dangerous for dogs.

Canine Chocolate Consumption
Perhaps the worse kind of cake you could feed to a pet dog would be one containing chocolate.
Here’s the deal:
This goes for the icing and any fudge, cocoa or even candies (sprinkles) that are routinely used in cake.
Do not risk it!
Dairy is Not a Deal Breaker
Some dog owners are concerned about the dairy content in cake.
It’s a valid concern.
The ingredients in question are milk and butter. These make lots of cakes fall into the dairy (lactose) category.
Dairy or not, this dessert is not recommended.
Bad feeding habits are tough to break!
Also, consider that a bunch of cake will eventually cause a dog to gain weight. You’ll see sluggish over time.
Cheesecake, pound cake, cupcakes, pastry, red velvet or even your run-of-the-mill birthday cake are poor choices. There is no way around it.
Toppings That Aren’t Terrible
You may want to pick and choose what parts of your cake to give to your dog.
Fair enough.
Fresh strawberries, a popular topping, would be an example of this. You could argue that’s healthy for hounds!
Yup! Unprocessed fruits, atop a sweet and tasty cake, are a desirable aspect of this otherwise misguided intention.
The Bottom Line
Either make your own cake or don’t share with your dog at all.
Most cakes are sort of irresponsible and certainly unhealthy. It’s even worse if chocolate or certain nuts are included.
Unless it is pet-friendly, this type of dessert is just not right for a dog — that’s our take on cake!
You could make a pup cake for your dog. Here is the recipe: 1 large egg, 1/4 cup peanut butter, 1/4 cup vegetable oil, 1/3 cup honey, 1 cup flour, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract and (optional) 1 cup vegetable such as carrots. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Then line a muffin tin with 6 muffin cups. Then combine together all ingredients in a large bowl. Then blend together with a mixer on low infill, everything is combined.
Then spoon 2 heaping tablespoons of mix into each lined cup. Then bake for 15 minutes or so. When they are finished baking let cool, then frost with peanut butter. Finally top with a milk bone (optional).
